UMass foils Fordham

Rashaun Freeman scored 21 points and had 13 rebounds to lead UMass to a 74-61 win over Fordham in an Atlantic 10 Conference game last night in Amherst.
The victory extended the home winning streak to 10 games for the Minutemen (8-6, 3-1).
Fordham (7-10, 2-2) led 32-26 at halftime, but an 8-0 run early in the second half put UMass on top for good, 40-36.
· Rhode Island 71, La Salle 68 — DaWan Robinson scored 20 points as the Rams (9-6, 3-1 Atlantic 10) dropped the Explorers (8-7, 2-2) in Philadelphia.
· WPI 66, Coast Guard 61 — James Marois netted 19 points and the Engineers (14-1, 4-1 NEWMAC) held off the Bears (10-3, 2-2) in New London, Conn.
· Suffolk 76, Johnson & Wales 75 — Brian Small compiled 22 points as the Rams (6-7, 4-2 GNAC) edged the Wildcats (4-11, 2-6) at Regan Gymnasium.
· Gordon 72, Mount Ida 45 — Jon Marstaller’s 18 points carried the Fighting Scots (10-3) past the Mustangs (3-12) in Newton.
· WNEC 82, D. Webster 50 — Ryan Hernandez’ 17 points lifted the Golden Bears (6-7, 4-2 GNAC) over the Eagles (0-12, 0-6) in Nashua, N.H.

· Duke 81, N.C. State 68 — J.J. Redick had 28 points, but it was Sean Dockery’s key 3-pointer down the stretch that helped the No. 1 Blue Devils reach 17-0 (5-0 Atlantic Coast) with a win over the Wolfpack (14-3, 3-2) in Durham, N.C.
· Florida 113, Savannah St. 62 — Joakim Noah had 21 points as the No. 2 Gators (17-0) drubbed the Tigers (1-18) in Gainesville, Fla.
· Memphis 88, Tennessee 79 — Shawne Williams had 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Rodney Carney added 22 points as the No. 4 Tigers (16-2) held off the visiting Volunteers (11-3).

In other top 25 action, No. 19 Ohio State dropped Wisconsin, 77-67, and No. 23 Iowa edged Minnesota, 76-72, in triple-overtime.

In women’s hockey action:
· Boston University 2, Brown 2 — Gina Kearns scored twice as the Terriers (10-9-4) salvaged a tie with the Bears (7-8-2) in Providence.
