Payne dies after being injured.

Boxer Kevin Payne died Sunday after he suffered a brain injury during a professional fight.  The 34-year-old boxer was pronounced dead at 2 pm on Sunday following surgery at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

A review of the boxing fight tape and autopsy results before deciding whether to assess penalties in a bout that injured the boxer who later died. The 34-year-old boxer won an eight-round bout by split decision over 26-year-old Ryan Maraldo Saturday at The Centre.

Payne’s fight was the main event on a card that was broadcast live by Azteca America, a Spanish-language cable channel that goes to 45 million homes in the Americas. The 34-year-old boxer had to be helped from the ring and was then taken by ambulance to the hospital.
