Bonderman out for rest of '07 season due to an elbow injury

By Alfred Johnson

Right-hander Tigers' Jeremy Bonderman will not able to play the rest of the 2007 season due to a distressing elbow injury that is not getting better, this was confirmed last Sunday by Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland, after the Seattle Mariners beat Detroit 14-7.

Bonderman made six runs and seven hits in 1 1/3 innings, being the shortest outing of his five-year career, -in what might end up being his final season.

Bonderman hopes his elbow will be well when the doctors examine to him next Monday. It's frustrating, but at least now we're going to find out the reason why this is happening," he said. "I've had it for a while, and it's been getting worse over a period of time.''

With a similar injury, Bondenman remained out the 2005 season, but he returned to the regular season winning 14 games, helping the Tigers reach last year’s playoffs for the first time since 1987 and contributed to the first Tigers World Series appearance since 1984.

Despite the strong pain Bondenman feels in his elbow he hopes to return soon to continue helping the Tigers' team in the AL wild-card chase.
